The Team

Héctor Falla is a tenured professor in the Tax Law Specialization dictated by Rosario University as well as on the M&A and corporate transactions legal course, dictated by the Andes University. Additionally, Héctor Falla has extensive experience in (1) (a) structuring national and international operations that involve the sale and purchase, mergers and divisions of different assets and national and international business lines - involved jurisdictions such as Canada, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Denmark, USA, Spain, Mexico, Switzerland, Peru, among others-, (b) business collaboration contracts with national and international components, (c) Colombian investment funds with national and foreign investments, and (2) tax litigation before administrative and judicial authorities.
Finally, Héctor Falla has been a lecturer on tax aspects of national and international relevance before the Colombian Institute of Tax Law ("ICDT"), the International Fiscal Association (IFA) and LEGIS. Additionally, Héctor Falla has authored academic publications in (1) ICDT Magazines No. 79 and 81 and (2) Volumes VII and VIII of the book “Critical Studies of Tax and Customs Jurisprudence”; and he is an opinion columnist in the newspapers: “La República”, “Asuntos Legales” and “Ámbito Jurídico”.

Javier has more than 30 years of experience advising companies in sectors such as: corporate, commercial, mining, hydrocarbons, agro-industrial, ports and infrastructure, energy, industrial, labor, among others.
As Legal Vice-President of C.M.U. S.A. he was actively involved in all the negotiations and due diligence that GLENCORE carried out in order to acquire the shares and assets of that company. Also, as In-House Lawyer of CNR, he participated in the due diligence and negotiations between COALCORP and GOLDMAN SACHS for the acquisition of COALCORP's assets. Likewise, he led different due diligence of companies such as ANGLO GOLD ASHANTI and AUX, today MINESA
He also advises on the application of environmental and urban tax benefits, environmental licensing, sanctioning processes, environmental permits, due diligence, regulation and analysis of environmental public policies, trademark registrations and INVIMA.
Javier was selected by his peers as Best Lawyer 2020 in the energy sector and is a candidate for Best Lawyer 2021 in the energy and env ironmental sectors.

Mónica has more than 15 years of experience advising companies in sectors such as: corporate, commercial, foreign investment, international trade, and free trade zones regimen, among others.
As Senior Manager in Araujo Ibarra Consultores Internacionales S.A.S. she led the Corporate Law Practice and was actively involved in the structuring and implementation of some of the most important free trade zones projects led by the firm (Zona Franca El Dorado, Clinica Marly Zona Franca Especial, Zona Franca de Occidente Extension, Ecopetrol Off Shore Free Trade Zone, Ecocementos Zona Franca Especial, Zofrandina, among others). She also led the qualification of numerous permanent free trade zone users and was actively involved in the design and implementation of the compliance program for free trade zones.

Carlos has over 20 years of experience leading tax functions in local and regional settings and within large corporations in Colombia, as well as extensive experience with the Big Four firms rendering services to various economic sectors, including consumer goods, manufacturing, services, oil & gas, technology, finance, healthcare, education, and the social economy, among others. His focus has primarily been on strategic tax planning, tax compliance at the local and regional levels, tax due diligence, risk management and audits, and corporate reporting. He has guided his clients through the digital transformation process in the financial and tax areas, generating significant improvements in their operational efficiency.

Cristian has built his professional career by assisting organizations across various economic sectors with quality assurance, financial and accounting oversight, tax compliance, risk assessment, and the strengthening of internal controls. His experience includes conducting and leading statutory audits, financial audits, compliance audits, legal and tax reviews, process evaluations, financial statement analyses, and the formulation of recommendations for management and government agencies.
He has experience managing and supervising accounting processes, including financial closings, reviewing records and reconciliations, analyzing accounts, preparing and evaluating financial statements, ensuring compliance with tax obligations, coordinating accounting teams, and strengthening administrative and financial procedures. His approach integrates accounting with a focus on risk, control, and decision-making, ensuring that financial information is reliable, timely, and useful for business management.
His professional focus is on the tax area, particularly tax compliance, review of tax returns, withholding taxes, national and local taxes, exogenous information, analysis of tax contingencies, responding to tax requests, and assessment of tax risks. He complements this experience with expertise in transfer pricing and reviewing the tax impact of business operations.
He also has expertise in quality management, process auditing, and risk management, which enables him to evaluate organizations from a comprehensive perspective, identifying control weaknesses and financial, accounting, tax, and operational risks, as well as opportunities for improvement. His professional approach focuses on translating technical issues into clear assessments, practical recommendations, and useful tools for management, thereby contributing to the strengthening of organizations’ financial structures, regulatory compliance, and sustainability.
He has worked with business information tools and systems such as Siesa, Siigo Nube, SAP Business One, Odoo, and World Office, integrating accounting and tax knowledge with process analysis and financial management improvement.

She has served as General Manager in the solidarity economy industry and has led processes regarding the management of the whole accounting cycle—from initial recording and bank reconciliation to account reconciliation, as well as the calculation and filing of national and local taxes.
She has also led tax refunds and offset procedures for different clients.
She brings 27 years of experience in preparing and filing tax reports and reporting to regulatory bodies—such as the Superintendence of Corporations and the Superintendence of the Solidarity Economy—while handling specific compliance requirements across different sectors.
